Halloween is the time for creepy, hauntingly funny, spirited parties. Sorry, I couldn’t resist! Most likely, there are more parties thrown during this time of the year then any other holiday. Maybe New Year’s Eve parties slightly outnumber Halloween parties. People of all ages love to dress up and pretend they’re someone else just for that one night.
It is not uncommon to receive numerous invitations to various Halloween parties and social events. Of course, most are scheduled for the same night! So, you have to choose which one to attend or schedule out appearances at different parties.
What if you are the one hosting a party this year? If you are thinking of throwing a Halloween party, how do you convince people to choose your party over the others?
A creative, unique party theme is the first step.
Most people don’t actually plan anything for their get together. Party themes are for kids’ birthday parties, right? Wrong!
Plan ahead!
Plan on a theme that is more than “wear a costume.” Have a specific theme for your party. This one point alone will make your party stand out from the crowd.
Ideas for your party
One choice is the traditional “spooky” Hallowen party. Have everyone dress as their favorite ghost, the most despicable horror movie character, or the creepiest monster.
A spooky-themed party will probably be one of the easiest to host. It is a common theme, but you can make it your own. Get party favors and decorations that capture the theme you have decided on. Either buy some or make your own. Throw up lots of cobwebs, play creepy music. Get a
*Fog Machineif your budget has room for one. Replace some of your lightbulbs with the black light ones and you are on your way to hosting a creepy event.
There are lots of other themes you can try, however. What about a famous couples party, where everyone comes as a famous couple? Or maybe a movie theme night, where everyone comes as their favorite Star Wars character for example. The famous couple idea and the Star Wars theme are great ideas for Halloween couples!
Some other theme ideas include:
- Crazy hat party
- Decade party (60’s, 70’s, 80’s, etc)
- Murder mystery
- Favorite cartoon character
- Pirate party
- Future Self party (Everyone dresses as themselves. But – 25 years in the future!)
Begin your party planning early. That way you will have plenty of time to have everything organized and prepared. Get some help from friends or family if you need it. And remember – planning the party is half the fun!
